James Day - Guest Book Remembrances
February 16, 2008

Dear Evelyn,
My fondest memory of Jim is how he would come up to me after church when my boys were young and tell me I was doing fine as a mother and I had good boys. He always told me to smile. After a few years, I began to believe him.

Uncle Jim,

My uncle James Day blessed my life in many ways. First was his great example of caring compassion for other people. Second was his example of a devoted holder of the priesthood of God. My brother John left home soon after I turned twelve years old. Since my father did not attend church very often, Jim was a great example of service and commitment to living the gospel. He was also always happy and pleasant to be around.

Jim’s life was all about helping other people. As a pharmacist he devoted his best efforts to helping others recover from illness. Owning his own drug store Kolob Drug, he worked many long ours to serve his community by filling prescriptions and offering a listening ear to those who were ill. In James 1:27 we read, “Pure religion and undefiled before God and the Father is this, To visit the fatherless and widows in their affliction, and to keep himself unspotted from the world”. That defines Uncle Jim’s religion. He tirelessly helped the widows in his own neighborhood, including my own mother. I wish him God’s speed on his way back to Kolob.

I am so sad today to read of Jim's passing. I so enjoyed getting to know him and appreciated the wonderful example he has been to me, both during my mission as well as during all my wonderful visits while visiting Utah. I am so sorry to hear about Uncle Jim. I haven't seen all of you for a very long time. I remember being up at the store with my grandma Parrott and uncle Jim telling my brother and I to pick something out. I remember going to his house and having horrible rug burns on my tummy from sliding down the stairs, racing to get to the bottom. I always loved going to visit him. My thoughts & prayers are with you all. Love Always, Michelle Parrott
